"The Brunel Museum in historic Rotherhithe is directly above the Thames Tunnel. This is Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s first project, aged nineteen years, and working with his father Sir Marc Brunel and it is the first tunnel under a river anywhere in the world.

Built in 1730 as a workhouse for the poor, and situated in a secluded side street sits what is today the Vestry House Museum...  with thanks to Ian for the guided tour

..will definitely be paying a visit.. the whole area is unknown to me...and I am fascinated by workhouses..might be good on the next sunny day, without a freezing cold accompaniment..what a city girl this country girl has turned out to be!
